The three-part work evokes the atmosphere of the <span class=\"s1\"><b>Middle Ages<\/b><\/span> without following a set narrative, but with a strong evocation of mysticism, power and awe. The music invites the listener to be transported to a time of castles, knights and legends.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The <span class=\"s1\"><b>first movement<\/b><\/span> opens with a mystical character centered on a three-note main theme. Slow melodies and rich chords create a sense of wonder. Gradually, dark and menacing sounds emerge, alluding to the dangers of the period. The tension builds to a powerful climax, after which the music stills and flows into the second movement.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The <span class=\"s1\"><b>second movement<\/b><\/span>, a lyrical chorale, is dedicated to <span class=\"s1\"><b>Theo<\/b><\/span>, the composer&#8217;s son. The title &#8220;THE Old world AWAKENS&#8221; subtly refers to his name. The serene melody, carried by the saxophone section, symbolizes new life and hope. It forms a tender contrast to the raw power of the surrounding parts and brings peace within the whole.   <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In the <span class=\"s1\"><b>third part<\/b><\/span> awakens the grandeur of the Middle Ages. Bright brass and majestic rhythms bring to life images of kings and battles. The fanfare grows into an imposing finale, in which the three-note theme resounds triumphantly.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">With a <span class=\"s1\"><b>duration of 13.5 minutes<\/b><\/span> and <span class=\"s1\"><b>difficulty level 3<\/b><\/span><i>The Old World Awakens<\/i> is an engaging work for concerts and competitions. Its combination of historical atmosphere, emotional depth and compelling melody makes it a valuable addition to the fanfarer repertoire. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p
